I started this semester not really understanding the mechanics of tabletop game design. I have always viewed table-top games as something to learn, play and enjoy but never really dived deeper into their mechanics or themes. Within these first five weeks, I have already learnt a lot about tabletop games and what makes them unique.
For my individual digital artefact, I am going to examine female game designers and look at the mechanics of their tabletop games. I have narrowed my research to only female game designers as I am curious to learn more about females in this industry. An example of what I might explore could be why certain designers stick to a certain theme or mechanic when formulating a new game or why they enjoy a certain mechanic within games.
